What is Floyd Knobs?

Floyds Knobs is a small community of mostly farmers and city transplants (like us). The main attractions are the 'U Pick It' farms of the Stumler's and Huber's. Koetters also operates a wood finishing plant. Quiet, picturesque and site of a broad range of domesiles - from shacks and trailers to mansions and estates.

I'm not sure where the name came from. Hell, most of the residents can't even agree on how to write or pronounce the name. Some older residents say Floyd Knobs. I suppose because it is easier to say. I don't know anyone who says Floyds Knob. The prefered name is Floyds Knobs (this is the name printed on the Post Office).

There are even some residents who would like to see the name changed to Mooresville, following the naming of the micro-mall at the junction of Paoli Pike and Scottsville Road (Mooresville Station). Doesn't seem likely, though.

As time goes by, perhaps I will be able to shed some light on how Floyds Knobs came into being. You would think that its not a conincidence that it resides in Floyd County.
